DRONE CHALLENGE
Aeronautical & Aerospace
Drone challenge is an event where participants control drones through RC and pass the drone through obstacles and hurdles carrying a certain amount of payload and deliver it to its prescribed destination. Even though piloting skills are an essential factor of the event, in addition to it prompt payload delivery is the predominant part of the event. Delivering the payload to the target will be the main attraction of the event. The judgement will be based on how elegantly the payload delivery is done based on the height of dropping, stability, and less impact load on the cargo. The technique for deploying cargo without losing stability is another keynote of the event.
Event Overview
Design specifications:
1. Only quad copters should be used.
2. The Usage of ready to fly kit is strictly prohibited.
3. An innovative technique in cargo holding and dropping used, is expected.
4. Metal propellers are not allowed.
5. Frame size should not exceed 450-500 mm.
6. Extra batteries and tool kits for back up should be carried by the participants.
7. Drones' parts should be selected in such a way that maximum load carrying capacity is increased.
8. The payload to be carried is 200 gm (minimum) and the maximum can be of your choice.
9. Picking up the payload from its source and delivering it to the destination will be the task.
10. Hovering at the least possible distance/finding innovative techniques to deliver payload to the ground with least impact on the body will add on points.
11. Increasing the amount of payload will also add on points for the participants.
12. A repair time of 150 seconds will be given in case of a crash.
Round 1: Rules for Qualifying Round
1. Within a time duration of 2 hours, participants should assemble their drones, and be ready for the race.
2. The Pilot has to take-off from the launch pad.
3. Take the Quad copter through the obstacles placed in the arena with the payload.
4. The pilot will be allowed to walk around the arena in a certain distance from the obstacles.
5. A maximum of 2 Attempts will be given to the participants.
6. Depending on the number of payloads it carries, the points will be awarded.
7. Crash landing the object to ground will yield negative points.
8. Complete the round with the lowest possible time and max points to get qualified for Round 2.
9. The number of drones to be qualified for Round 2 will be subjected to the number of registrations.
Round 2: Rules for Final Round
1. The competition will be held in 1 vs 1 format as per the participant standings.
2. Qualifying drones will be given different sets of hurdles to compete against each other with different sets of payloads.
3. The winners of 1 vs 1 round will race for finalizing the top 3 positions.
Team requirement
1. Each team can have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 members.
2. Students from different branches can form a team.
3. Any number of teams from a college can participate in the event.
