CAPTURE WITH LINUX
Computer Science
Capture the flag events are computer security competitions. Participantscompute in security themed challenges for the purpose of obtaining the highest score. Competitors are expected to “capture flags” to increase their score. Flags are usually random strings embedded in the challenges.
Event Overview
Design Specification:
1. This is a solo event.
2. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops. If not, college systems will be provided. Source code theft will not be tolerated; this will lead to disqualification (round1)
3. Any malpractice on the virtual machine leads to disqualification. (round2)
4. Event coordinators are not responsible for a participant’s flag location if the flag is deliberately moved/deleted/modified by the participant.
Round Specification:
Round 1: Qualifier Round
1. A set of buggy programs in C or Python is provided to each participant.
2. Buggy programs may have one or more errors.
3. Errors that would be present are syntax, semantics and logistics errors.
4. Participants secure points for each debugged program.
5. 60 participants with highest points make it to next round
Round 2: CAPTURE THE FLAG
1. Participants will be allotted lab PC’s running on Linux OS.
2. There will be storyline with embedded clues, solving this these clues will help the participant earn flags and clues to the next flag.
3. Once the clock hits 90 minutes or if the participant finds all the flags before 90 minutes, the participant with most flags wins.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Each member of the team must carry their valid Identity card of his/her institution.
2. Should abide by all the rules and Design Specification mentioned.
