Welcome to the bridge o Mania competition, where teams showcase their innovative designs. The competition will feature a variety of rules and regulations that teams must adhere to, such as size and weight restrictions for the bridge. A perfect place to explore the creativity, technical skills and logical thinking to construct a bridge with the minimum deflection using popsicle/ice cream sticks and glue.
Event Overview
Design Specifications:
1. Bridge should be designed using popsicle sticks and glue.
2. Dimensions of bridge: Total span should be 70 - 75 cm, Width should be 15 cm, Height should be 10 -15 cm (from the table’s top surface to bottom of the bridge).
Rules:
1. The required materials should be bought by participants.
2. Overlapping of more than 2 sticks will be prohibited.
3. Each team will be given a time limit of 3 hours to design their bridge.
4. Teams must submit their bridge 30 mins before hand to the respected co-ordinator for inspection.
5. If any default is found, team will be given 15 mins to modify their bridge.
6. Bridges will then be subjected to loading. Loading point of the bridge will be at centre of the span.
7. Unethical behaviour will lead to disqualification. Faculty co-ordinators have all the rights to take final decision for any matter during the event. o Judge’s decision will be considered as final.
Eligibility Criteria:
1. Each team can have a minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 members. Students from the same institute have to form a team.
2. The models will be judged based on Appearance, aesthetics, Height, Weight, Deck dimensions, punctuality, length, load sustaining capacity and the load to weight ratio.
3. Each member of the team must carry their valid Identity card of his/her institution.
4. Participants should abide by all the rules and design specification mentioned.
Round Specification:
Round 1:
It is a Practical Designing contest, to test the proper application of the concepts. Teams have to design the structure of a bridge using Popsicle sticks, normal glue and other materials. The team’s bridge ,which carries highest load will be considered as winner.
